Acclimation
Acclimation For New Fish
There are Two main methods to introduce Fish, Corals, and invertebrates. There is the Float method and the Drip method. The float Method is simpler and is used mainly for hardy species that may acclimate easily. The Drip method is bit more difficult and is typically done for more sensitive aquarium life such as coral and sensitive fish as well as inverts.
Float Acclimation
1. Place the sealed bag with the live contents without opening it to float on the surface of the water in the tank for 15 minutes.
2. Remove the bag from the tank.
3. Open the Bag and Net the Aquatic life from the bag and quickly place in the aquarium.
4. Dispose of the water in the Bag.(Do not place water from bag into the aquarium.)
Drip Acclimation
1. Place the sealed bag with the live contents without opening it to float on the surface of the water in the tank for 15 minutes.
2. Safely Empty Contents in bag into a container such as a 5 gallon bucket.(Make sure the container is clean and free of any harmful substances.
3. Place one end of airline tubing inside aquarium and then place the other end with the airline control valve in the container with the live animals.
4. Start a siphon on the airline tube and begin a slow drip, when the container is full remove half of its volume of water and continue drip until full once more.
5. Now you can safely transfer Live contents into your aquarium.
